Whispers In The Night

Rooms whisper in the night time and
Walls echo back their words,
Their voices as melodious
As strange, exotic birds.

I try to understand them, but
They speak in foreign phrase.
I'm taunted by the sounds of night
And quiet of the days.

When you were here to murmur your
Sweet love song in my ear
The walls were blatant listeners
And strained to overhear.

Perhaps they now are speaking of
The way it used to be
When the whispers in the night time
Were love words for you and me.
