It is easier to believe that love is pure and true Untouched by the stain of suspicion and doubt Resplendent in the gown of good intention Alive and fresh as spring in a mindless bliss Wrapped in a cocoon of silken innocence Than to hesitate in that toxic haze of doubt Concocting answers to questions never asked Accusing; aroused in soundless indignation Consumed by the unfounded jealousy That deprives the heart of tranquil repose Seek not that knowledge which erodes the soul Nor the secrets that poison the peaceful mind Shun the sly seduction of inquisitive nature Lest the bridge between two lives crumble And lie in the dust of shattered dreams the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
