Plea of a Prairie Wife

Lay me not in mausoleum
Entombed in an airless cave.
Bury me upon the prairie.
Let a field stone mark my grave.

I was never much for grandeur,
Simple ginghams mine to wear.
Dress me not in silks and satins
Just to see me lying there.

Bury me upon the prairie,
It has been my beloved home.
Bury me among the wildflowers
Where so often I would roam.

Until wakened for the judgment
By the trumpets up above,
Let me lie in sweet surrender
To the prairie that I love.

very well done Joyce. I like the rhythm of this piece.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I have chosen my beloved meadow ... just as you have chosen the prairie~

Dear Joyce,

This must be the perfect setting! I do love it so..

Until wakened for the judgment
By the trumpets up above,
Let me lie in sweet surrender
To the prairie that I love.

God's promise and our inheritance..
