Birthday Celebration The 4th of July, time for fireworks and fun; Picnics and barbecues, food by the ton. Our nation's birthday, we'll all celebrate. Uncle Sam is the man of the hour on this date. So hang out the colors, the red, white and blue; Our emblem of Glory, the tried and the true. We're proud of our heritage, proud of our land. Though some would destroy us, together we stand. Our lady with torch welcomes all, "Come, be free; Except for the ones who'd take our liberty." We're standing tall with all heads held up high And hands on our hearts as the flag passes by. Two hundred and twenty-nine years old today, We're young and we're hearty, determined to stay As brave and as loyal as our fathers of yore Who envisioned a land that had not been before. Where all men are equal. The price has been paid By the blood of our brave men and women who laid Down their lives that the rest of us might be today Celebrating proudly, each in his own way.
