Unfulfilled Dreams I believed in fairy tales And happiness ever after; That when I found my prince, we'd live In endless love and laughter. But through no fault of yours, my love, Our idyll soon was ended. Ever and ever, our fond dream, Was not what God intended. If genies granted wishes And fairy tales came true, I'd wish I could be taken back To those sweet years with you, When the future was still ours to live And every day was savored. I'd have no need to envy those Who've been more highly favored. Those walking hand in hand to meet Those golden sunset years, Who've never known this loneliness Nor shed these anguished tears. But fairy tales don't happen and Time always moves ahead And only in my dreams I live The life we could have led. By: Joyce Johnson, 6/22/05 |

powerful...all i can really say to this poem; but time will continue forever, and it's up to you to decide how much will be spent on life. |

Joyce~ Poignant are these heart pennings of yours~ I, too, believe in fairy tales ... but I've learned that they don't always have such a happy ending~ Touching the monitor screen ... reaching out to you~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*When the heart grieves over what it has lost, |

Dear Joyce: I guess life never turns out the way we have planned when we are young. Too many surprises along the way! Love Betty Lou |

This is very poignant and touches the heart of the reader. There are many stories like this one, So sad and so hard for the partner remaining. There are even sadder stories of those who never held the hand of someone who loved them dearly, or walked in the sunshine with someone they really loved. I know you cherish your moments, and your poem helps to remind me to cherish mine. while I have them. Thank you for sharing and caring enough to post this beautiful poem. Hugs June xxxxxxxx |

"And only in my dreams I live The life we could have led." Oh my dear.. what a wonderful yet sad piece. It brings tears to my eyes, for both the younger people and the older people have their regrets and their broken dreams. Such a beautiful outpouring... keep dreaming though! As Marge said, it can be a happy ending too.. Love's a lovely lad |
