Lost Yesterday Black trees are etched against the glow Of sunset's sky and down below, The winter fields, adrift with snow. Up in the Heavens, cold and clear, Aurora's colors soon appear, To dominate the atmosphere. A silent symphony of red, That swirls and dips above my head, Like meteors that fell and bled. Such beauty leaves me awed and still. I stand alone, entranced until I am aware of evening's chill. And even when I go inside, The walls, this spectacle can't hide. Within my mind, I see the tide. I never watch it fade away. In memory, alive, to stay, Just as in that lost yesterday! Betty Lou Hebert |
