Day of Infamy There are days we have marked in time kept jealously guarded. “Where were you when?” markers on life’s highway mostly tragic, it seems. September 11, 2001 another date etched burned forever into memory. Another day of infamy like the ones before most likely, not the last. Just another Autumn day yet one that tragically awakens a slumbering giant. Throughout the sorrow the anguish, the horror a familiar anthem is heard. From the rubble, the sacrifice the absolute destruction a standard is raised. Defiant, yet hopeful promise thought outdated... Old Glory is unfurled! War is now declared generation suddenly, terribly defined one day in early September. As America awakens to destiny let us never to forget the price of our freedom... “God bless America!” Tramp Poet: once a scooter tramp no choice about poet... I think we all could do without these kind of days..but since we really have no choice in the matter..all we can do is learn from them. Good poem. |
