Mama's Rules

My memory goes back, almost
to horse and buggy days;
and to my Mama's values and
her quaint old fashioned ways.

She would be horrified to see
what happens on TV;
and as for movies she'd find them
beneath her dignity.

She'd deem some books unworthy
to be read by our pet pig.
To cries of censorship she'd give
not one small, dried up fig.

Most of the books we read now
would receive a fiery bath.
Even Pearl Buck's "The Good Earth"
did not survive her wrath.

My mama had seven children
to raise the best she could.
She brooked no outside influence
that wasn't for our good.

Our dear mama was a lady;
that no one can deny.
If we grew up less than perfect,
we can't say she didn't try.

Joyce this is a fabulous write. I had a grandmother who was very similar. Ohhhh what she would make of today,! doesn't bear thinking about lol.

If only there were more people like your Mama. This world would be a better place, that is for sure. My mother was old fashioned too.
