New Baby

I called as soon as I got home
To hear if there was more
News about the baby who'd
Be coming to our door.

Disappointed and delighted
To be told, "The baby's here.
We're sorry that you missed her birth;
But truly she's a dear."

I couldn't wait to see her,
This brand new little one;
Too late for miracle of birth,
In time for all the fun.

She hit the ground a running,
I know you think we're silly,
To be so completely taken with
This pretty little filly.

Her dam is Lena's Second Echo,
Her sire is Tamalight.
We've not yet given her a name,
It has to be just right.

No matter what we call her
We are thrilled with her of course,
Because she's bred from champions,
This darling Quarter Horse.
