How can we silently sit by, while millions die by genocide? How can we coldly step over a homeless person lying in the street? How can we ignore the cry of a child who is battered and abused? Have we all not felt the fear of being helpless and alone? How does a child learn to kill? Why do they want to? How can a priest molest our innocence and still be called a man of God? Would God call this man his own? How can the justice system so reverently protect the rights of the criminals? Who protects the rights of the victims? How can we judge a person by the color of their skin, when we all bleed red? How can we call ourselves human when we have forsaken our humanity?

aw so many heart-felt questions and so true. This world is full of such evil and it is a great sadness that there is so much suffering. You wrote about it well in your poem.

Great piece. These questions should be asked, often.
Thanks, Melton

here again and read it again and the last lines say it all. How can we call ourselves human when we have forsaken our humanity?
well done.

This brings to mind how selfish mankind can be. I saw someone knock something over in a store and everyone passed by and not one made any effort to help. I know that's small on the scope that you are writing on, but it struck me then and does again when I read your words. Glad to see thoughts like this put out here. Nice poem. Barb

Amanda,
I agree with Barb! How can people be so selfish and not help someone who is in need. I've seen elderly people trip or fall, and no one comes to their aid. Others who walk by a ragged mother and child and will ignore them, without at giving them a smile or acknowleging they are even there. If the situation were reversed, I wonder how we would feel if people treated us that way?
Very touching poem!
