One Day Shy

Today I have a Wednesday reply
That’s one day short of Thursday shy.
Does having a week shy of a day
Mean that Sunday was timid and went away?
If I’m shy of a dollar by ninety-nine cents
It emboldens my penny, therefore, and hence
I can purchase a foot, shy of one inch
To build a house that is off by a pinch?
And then “give and take, “I can now clarify,
This is the arrangement whereas we try
To make concessions for that which is shy
And of course it explains the how and the why.
