Secret Ingredient

Meals served in finest restauirants
Have something missing there.
Why is it no food tastes so good
As Mama's simple fare?

A noted chef's fine gourmet dish,
Served up with grandest flair
Does not delight the tastebuds
As does Mama's simple fare.

French cooking with fine sauces
Made of ingredients rare,
Cannot compete with the pure love,
In Mama's simple fare.

Dear Joyce:  This is so true.  Dishes prepared with loving hands always taste the best!

Dear Joyce,
This reminds me of my mother's wholesome cooking in which she put all her love into it, just to make us happy. Thank you for sharing.

Love,

Dear Joyce

Now I know why some of the food in those restaurants do not taste very nice at all.  The chef has 'lost' the 'love' for his/her cooking.  A 'hearty' poem indeed.

Love Isobel

Joyce~
That's what my kids say !

But, in all fairness to my son, Steven, who is a restaurant manager for The Main Street Grille in downtown DeLand ... I'd have to say as he practices the skills learned at this Mommy's side while so young he had to stand on a stool to reach the stove~
