Could Be Anywhere...

tossed away

isn’t loneliness lonely
walking about weeping
when all your adult life
you had someway to love?

how does one get by
get used to being alone
when every single moment
is spent in sad longing?

breath catching, sobbing
when family seen on tv
dear song on the radio
card isle at the store.

driving along, feeling alive
turning to say i love you
only to crushingly realize
no one is there anymore.

so very sad and lonely
when poet living for love
is no longer loved, wanted
balled up, tossed away.

Filled to overflowing
wastebasket of rejects
no love to pen beautiful
isn’t loneliness lonely?

Rejections hurt no matter from where they come.  But the only way to avoid them is to never reach out for acceptance.  Love, Joyce

most of the time, I'm used to it

but now and then, yes it's lonely

This is a very nice expressive poem.  I think as one develops more and more into the best person they can be, loneliness automatically disappears as there is more in common to share with others.

I agree with Barb! Loneliness seems to drift away as we begin to share with others. First, love has to begin with us, then it reaches out to touch others, just like the rippling effect of wind on a lake. My heart was deeply touched with your sad words.

thank y'all for the replies.
i sense the truth in your words, Patricia.
very hard when everyone you love throws
you away...am learning after nearly half
a century to tolerate my own company.
lol the sleepless nights are the worse...
i've practically got all the cracks, textures, shadows and such memorized on my
bedroom ceiling. was a big arse spider up there the other day...instead of murder i
talked to him for quite awhile...lol
wish i could figger out a way not to give all my heart when i am in love...would be so much easier to be cold hearted...but then i wouldn't have the poetry, eh?

i'm much better now...

Man, my girlfriend broke up with me today, and these lines almost made me break down.  So true.  So very, very true.  I wish I had written it.  Amazingly appropriate and concise.  I would applaud if you could hear it, but my roommate would just get mad.  You touched a nerver here bro, and I honestly hope for more, but not at the expense of your heart.

*cries softly* They've already named the versus that just took my breath away.

You do have a way with words.

Your time is here.  Take one last look at it, then never come back.  This part of your life is already over...

My hope is that feeling "tossed away" is an experience from your distant pass...never to be realized again...Thee,Thee,Thee

Next time if it really happens to me(again) and my heart is screaming for release, I'll read your poem. Perfect!

i sincerely hope that you can put this feeling behind you forever....you see i
know exactly the same feeling and am working
on never feeling this way again. once upon a times and happily forever afters were just not ours to have with each other. be happy, and let your wife love you. thee thee thee.
