Wherefore must you go at the end of this dream Back to your world? So far away it seems, like Silver heat shimmers on the highway. If only I could reach that misty horizon, I’d follow the Light from the Big Bear where so ever it might lead. Remember the smell of animals at the Zoo? Pungent and acrid, but yet somehow sweet with You to walk by my side. Stolen glances at you While you stared at the caged fauna, trying hard To bottle time and remember this day, your smile. Summer’s end seems so far from here, but all too Quickly the leaves will turn again from Spring to Autumn. Falling as I have, gentle, haphazard and True, each perfect leaf will make it’s way back Down from inept attempts at touching Heaven. And so will our love go, with the ending of Summer You return to your little corner of this world, and I here will remain. What then? It frightens me to know you have no answer but to say: “Me too my darling. Me too.” I’ve lost myself inside your sweet oblivion. All too soon will I find myself alone again. |

Goodbyes are sad but each step you take leads you towards a true love some day. Well written and intense. Love, Joyce |

I hope that the end of the summer comes filled with plans for you two to meet again soon. It's most definitely a bitter sweet poem... |
