Can't Stop Loving You AN: Phil Collins inspired this particular poem. The muse is the same, a classmate and a friend I've been in love with since my Freshman year of college (Sept 2002). ~ ~ ~ ~ You've got your man now, and it isn't me. Some days I feel like a dying tree. I can say everything's alright. I can pretend my mood is still light. But maybe you've figured out I've been lying. And every so often I'm still crying. I know you love him, and I'll never know your love. I see a black crow where others see a white dove. I can't stop loving you. But I must stop loving you. Sometimes I wonder why should I even try. Maybe I can try again to live the lie. I've been avoiding you for the past few weeks. Your sunbleached brown hair with lighter streaks. Your warm and caring smile, that brightened. My darkest days last year, my burden lightened. Last September you asked me had I met your man. I guess being loved isn't in my life plan. I can't stop loving you, though. Some days it feels like a mortal blow. I've got to find my own strength now. As through the lonely waters, cuts my dark prow. |

this is amazing.... all your poems are so full of emotion and you are someone who deserves to be loved in return...... your work expresses something very few males i have ever met hold dearest..... true feelings, and you are able to express them if not to a persons face but through your writing you leave open to criticism every time you post them.... keep writing, keep your head high, and stay strong. Mel so this is me but what do you care about that???? |
