The Irish Side of Me I feel the Irish side of me Begin to clamor to be free, Whenever St. Pat's Day is here, That half of me makes very clear, That even though there's French blood too, I must be Irish, through and through. My eyes must smile and laughter ring And green of course, is just the thing To wear that day, while cooking stew, With soda bread and corned beef too! The Irish music fills the air. There's Little Peopl everywhere! I see them flitting in and out. Or is it just the whiskey's clout? The only day I drink at all, Is when those wee folk come to call. They have me dancing jigs and reels, But all this happiness conceals My eyes now burn, my throat is dry. My feet are sore and I could cry, Because you see, if truth be told, My Irish side is getting old! Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Joyce: Thanks. I really am half Irish. All my mother's side came from Ireland during my great-grandfather's time and all of my father's side came from France about the same time. What a combination huh? Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Ah! There be Irish blood in me, to be sure. I love corned beef and Irish stew. Well I did love them until I changed my diet. Great sense of humour you have Betty Lou. This poem definitely brings the Irish out in all of us. Love Isobel ox |
