Longing For A Quiet Place

Today is a gray day.
My room is cloudy,
thick with sorrow.
I fight for the right of dignity,
while jumbled thoughts tug
like sour weeds of regret.
My heart was once like a fresh garden,
full of lovely roses.
If I could,
I would move swiftly
fast as running water from a waterfall.
At last,
feeling good
about myself.
Now it's full of dry sharp thorns.
Will I ever flourish again?
I would like
to end up in a calm and quiet place.
