A Cold and Quiet Place

There is a hush in falling snow
That mutes familiar sounds I know.
The neighbor's dog seems far away
And though I see him every day,
He always barks when he's let out,
In case there's anything about!
The yard light shows big, fluffy flakes,
That fall upon the walk and makes
A smooth, inviting path of white,
That disappears into the night.
It seems mysterious and strange,
The way the snow builds up to change
The contours and appearance of
The lawn and shrubbery I love.
I like this cold and quiet place,
Where snowflakes melt upon my face
And I feel part of nature's realm,
With Old Man Winter at the helm!

You words paint a lovely picture of the cold and snow.  Wonderful poetry.  Love, Joyce

Joyce:  Thanks for reading.  I have been stepping outside after dark, as we have deer coming in to browse our back yard. so beautiful to see and as long as I stay quiet, they don't mind me being there.

Dear Marge:  I don't blame you for not wanting this cold. -14 degrees last night and set a record from 1924.  It's snowing again too, but this should be our last frigid night! I wish I were in Florida!

This is wonderful, Betty Lou!  It's like you were thinking my very thoughts when the other night we received our bit of snowfall.   I hadn't the heart to take down the Christmas lights outside just yet - for my daughter of course - and I caught a glimpse of their glow on the fallen snow.  It was so pretty - like your words here.  Well done, my friend!
Love,
Shereen.

Shereen:  Nice to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the poem.  We are definitely living in a winter wonderland here!  Have about 2 feet of snow and it is still snowing. Has been frigid temps. but is warming a bit.  It is really beautiful to look at, but driving in it is something else!

Dear Betty; I've missed your beautiful poetry and this one is full of Winter's magic! Hugs. Ellie

Images...I love images in a poem.  When they are original or a different slant, I applaud heartily. Good effort!
