CAUGHT IN THE ACT

In trivial conversation,
That which all women know,
Laced with malicious content,
And besmirched with insinuation,
Those attired in business casual
Lent their bejeweled ears.

On her pride they trampled
And smudged her good name
As though they had no more than
That to do as they encompassed
Just the minute to make time pass
With momentous pleasure.

She rose when she heard
The joking, rude cant
And summoned them all
Demanding clarification
Of their zestiest morsels.
Then she spat back with vengeance.

The act in which they were caught
Drained her blood
Then from pale to scarlet
She blighted their prattle
And degraded their bestial chant
And they felt so very samll.
