~For a good friend of mine, who looks past my facade and can see who I truly am: a remarkable poet.~ she is alone in the corner of her mind where it is beautiful, like the dark spilling over shoulders onto pencil forcing lines to bleed and encroach upon the perfection of this paper, shadows falling, falling, here. afraid of the world, she lingers unable to approach those who she sketches; faces, thousands of impossibly unreachable dreams in people. balancing depth in a valley of shallow water oh, all throughout the evening she whispers where no one will hear. unsuppressed perplexity, soft and palpable, moves into her soul and she can feel it, oh god, how she feels it. but where are the tears that blot flawlessness with black ink and indigo freedom? black only makes her eyes more brown, hair dipped in a mahogany dream, to shine. graphite is too delicate for fervency as the waves of desperation break over her hands and it salts the wounds she carries day after day, penciled faces stare at her deeper and scrutinize what a soul means they define her by ideals and she screams for her soul reader to come save me save me save me dusty nightmares are quelled as understanding is drawn from silver ashes at her feet. he brushes the fear from her spirit, and she can breathe. he tells her what she needs to hear to stay alive. can he perceive how exquisitely crafted his skill might be of reading souls, with a finger to the page? illusive simplicity it takes, but he shares with her, the secrets she keeps hidden within. she can't see his eyes, though oh she wants to read what comprehension he seeks for her to feel. a careful line is stitched by him, in between the powers of want and need; oh yes, she understands, for he is the one who makes her see. If I were to touch you, would you bleed a velvet river, running miracles through the sodden ground? --Moi [This message has been edited by IndigoEve (12-11-2003 04:25 PM).] |

Very good work here. Your words have a special way of capturing the emotions and ideas of your poem. KWM Life is a path, not a destination. We travel along it one way or another. Always going somewhere but never ariving. Walking the path is always bett |

I love the way you've captured her feelings and the way they meet. In a lot of poems I've read, they already know each other, but with this one I can feel her trepidation. Wonderful write! And whaddya mean, you're only 15! You're only as young (or old) as the pen you hold! Hope to see more of your work! Those who love deeply Never grow old; |
