(AN: This is a chaser to a story I'm gonna write in the Passions in Prose section.) LRRP We went out into the bush. Six silent men, within distance of a push. Close together, silent all the time. Six young men, all in their prime. The lieutenant, barely out of his teens. Five lads, should be wearing blue jeans. Young as seventeen, rarely older than twenty-two. They're serving their government, true? Not in the least is this true. They fight for something greater, mind you. It's for the guy marching at their side. As they creep silently to their hide. Their radio their only link to the camp. One boy dreams of the old skateboard ramp. Back home, where he left in months ago. Now he's in a base camp near a river's flow. Faces darkened, camouflaged clothing. Can't hide the lieutenant's wedding ring. Or the radio man's sweetheart's picture. Which in darkness, broadcasts its allure. We are human beings, through and through. We feel fear, pain, and emotion true. |

(big hugggsssssss) Wow! This reminded me so much of a short story written by Tim O'Brien titled "The Things They Carried". He was in the U.S Army for two years from 1968-1970 and he is frequently compared to Ernest Hemingway and Joseph Heller for looking at the irony of truth, like he does at war in this story! (sigh) I truly recommend this to you, as the story so deeply touches on what every troop, every soldier, truly is looking for, or apparently is looking for, God Bless You, I can't wait for the short story, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Carl, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |
