On Paths the Moon Has Laid

Into the twilight, with soft tread,
I walked to meet the night ahead.
Behind me lay a dying day,
Which still shed light upon my way.
The path led to a canyon old,
Where miners once had searched for gold
And far below, I heard the sound
Of water rushing, ocean bound.

I settled on a sandy spot,
Upon a blanket I had brought,
Prepared to watch the full moon rise.
The breeze was warm and uttered sighs.
The darkness lightened in the east.
I heard the snort of some wild beast,
Then realized that horses came
Along this draw that bears their name.

For Wild Horse Canyon, it's been known.
Then suddenly the fall moon shone
Across the hills and lit the scene
With lusterous radiance, serene
And after I had basked awhile
Beneath it's glowing, secret smile,
I gathered up my things and made
My way, on paths the moon had laid!

Oh this is just beautiful!!! I have seen this happen before. Light that's in a stream on the ground where there is no other city lights. WOW....this took me back a long time.

Betty,I seriously think that that is the most beautiful title I have ever seen.Shoot, I wish I had thought of it! You drew me in with this title and I was entranced by moonlit serenity! "Keeper" for me.We're gonna have to talk about the possibility of making this a song title...don't worry...I'll split the royalties

Oh Betty Lou!!!  Just brilliant.  This poem reminds me of when I visited a friend of mine who lived on the coast.  She lived directly across the road from the ocean and four floors up in a high rise building.  When the moon rose high in the sky, it shone a wide yellow path across the ocean.  You could feel as if you could walk on it.  We were in awe and it took our breath away. By the time we came to our senses and thought of taking a picture, the magic was gone.

Your talent certainly surpasses mine.

Love Isobel

Isobel:  What a gorgeous picture you paint with your words. The full moon over the ocean is breath-taking I know. My talent may be different than yours but does not surpass it!  You are very talented and I enjoy your work!
