May You Hear My Story

I once swore true love never existed,
So your feelings I understand.
And I will never push you,
As I respect you.

May you lend me an ear for story,
A story enclosed once my wound became my strength.

I was dumped like garbage.
And rumors, laughs made tears behind my mask.
I smiled to all with dignity.
Yet they mocked, "I am a fool deceived by her."

I once wanted to end my life.
Yet, I lacked the courage.
In a moment like this, God has shown His love.
A passerby petted my shoulders and smiled at me.

Though we never knew each other,
I felt their warmth from within,
And who said, "Love doesn't exist?"
My love for you is as real as my last.

Maybe you don't believe,
But I will show you and time.
My wound is healed because I found myself.
True love isn't about losing oneself.

And because I went through losses,
I cherish myself even more than ever.
Each broken heart is a chance
To learn to love someone deeper.

So won't you take that chance--
A chance the heart might be broken?
Won't you get on my ride,
And learn about love as my mate?

My heart is determined
To make you happy.
Even if this means I cry,
Because true love doesn't mean
Possession.
Because true love is to heal
Old wounds before love renews.

I once swore true love never existed,
So your feelings I understand.
And I will never push you,
As I respect you.

May you lend me an ear for story,
A story enclosed once my wound became my strength.
May you hear my story,
And your courage rise to challenge fears.

My heart is determined
To be a friend of you.
Even if you might not be mine.
Because true love doesn't mean
Possession.
Because true love is to heal
Old wounds before love renews.

Wow...this is words we should live by..like an anthem or something.....

True love isn't about losing oneself.

And because I went through losses,
I cherish myself even more than ever.
Each broken heart is a chance
To learn to love someone deeper.

Aren't you glad this just leaves us open to love someone much deeper! And that it doesn't have to mean there will never be love again. I Loved this poem so much and I am keeping this one to sustain me. I am going to read this everytime I feel doubts.
Thank you more than you know for sharing this. This lifted my spirit beyond words I can find right now. Many hugs for this!
Love,
Terri~
