![]() Hummingbirds Fanciful Flight By: Noah Eaton 2/20/01 Gracefully The little hummingbirds fly Sucking the wild honey from the beehive Drinking the marrow from the soft lips of magnolias calyx Nieces and nephews of the sprites, chanting lyrics of all nature Prophets of wild heaven, messangers of earthly love Darting To and fro, down from the timberline and through the hummocks Flocking in swarms together, kaleidoscope lassos gyrating in packs Swimming through the azure skies, darning canopies quilt Small filigree kites brushing against the misty parachute of these green rooftops Threaded cobweb wings speckled in the splendor of the entwined floodlight Swiftly These givers of nature flutter Giving eternity’s sap to the myriads of thirsty peduncles Bleeping out green acres composition to all living creatures All awakening from the long winter sleeps, roaming the shoulders of the wilderness Stampedes, murders, schools, parties invited at Mothers Reunion, hollering in unity Unfettered Free of incarceration, free of corruption Trailing behind the ebbs of incarceration, scouting out the dusk that follows Cycling trains of time pass on by again and again, only they remind that fact Speaking times words as Dusk closes suns louvers over, welcoming night Bowing to the lively flock, hiding under the canopy Peacefully The hummingbirds retire in the cypress green Rocked gently in the cradling branches, in the warm knotholes of the trees Sipping away at the sweet residue left behind inside The robles and the sycamores carry them in shagbark laps As the evening winds seep through the peep holes, breathing winds of wisdom Gracefully The little hummingbirds fly Flying together, givers of all that’s pure These wondrous creatures welcomed to our eyes Drinking from the buttercups of creation Making hummingbirds fanciful flight a beautiful sight to behold… I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth I can see the sun set and I perceive ***Live*** [This message has been edited by Mistletoe Angel (09-20-2003 03:36 AM).] |

Ah Noah ... I just loved this. I have a special connection with these wonderful creatures. We had scores of them at our old country property. They would return each year to us, and gave us endless hours of fascination watching their amazing acrobatics. They are beautiful in every way, and you've done them justice with this beautifully descriptive tribute. Just lovely! ![]() Best wishes, /Kit |

WOW, Noah...this is beautiful. These little winged creatures God created touched my life when I most needed it. It's a long story, but it came along at the right time. I collect them now. Wonderful Noah. I had never given a thought to the humming birds lives except as they connected with mine. How much I have missed. Love, Joyce |

Noah, I adore these tiny winged creatures and have them at my trumpet vine and honeysuckle plant. They are so quick and so small, that I have to really concentrate to see them! and try as I might, I cannot get a picture. A wonderfully written piece. Hugs, Marti Hear Blessings dropping their blossoms all around you. |

Noah: This is a wonderful write! We have clouds of humminbbirds in the summer, here and enjoy them so much. We have five different specie and they are all beautiful. They nest in the bushes in our back yard and when you walk past you can hear them chatter. Betty Lou Hebert |

Noah, the hummingbird has to be my favourite... so tiny, and delicate in nature..so beautiful in colour. I visit a special place where I have actually had one land on my hand! It wasn't even afraid of me...amazing.. and also amazing is the distance they travel to migrate to warmer climes in the winter. Beautifully written my sidekick! ~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~ ![]()
