Could Be Anywhere...

No Good Reason

Where has the love gone
intimacy grown, nurtured, precious.
All the years of building, struggles
now ashes of a sacrificial past?

Hearts once filled with shared joy
taken for granted, slowly destroyed.
Fiery tears finally come slower
the pain somewhat dull, dimmed.

Never to find that understanding
going on, reluctantly beginning to accept.
Life rolls over, like it or not
looking back with sharp, lonely regret.

My love, oh my eternal love
how we thought, worked together.
Planned growing old as one flesh
and now, for one at least; just alone.

Love once promised to last forever
over years thought protected, seasoned.
Why did my love stop loving me
for no apparent, or even good reason?

Daniel~
This is just so gosh-darned sad~

'Life rolls over, like it or not'

Well, we might not like it ... but I do like this line !!

Ok.  I LOVED this poem.  You actually brought a tear to my eye, because I was with a girl I thought I would marry, but she ended up needing her freedom.  This brought back so many bittersweet memories.  Thank you.  I really really loved it.  I'm adding it to my library.
