Rubber Duckies Go To Sea |

Rubber Duckies Go To Sea Eleven years ago, they say, Thousands of duckies got away. Aboard a ship, Seattle bound. Went overboard, were never found. Pacific storm had worked its wiles, But still those duckies wore their smiles! Some oceanographers began To track their travels, as they can, With their equipment, geared to be A record of what's lost at sea. They're riding ocean currents and A few of them have come to land. Yet most of them are still afloat. I think we're going to need a boat. For now, the owners say that they Still want them and agree to pay For every duck, of which they're fond, One hundred-dollar savings bond! The ones that have been found, we know Are bleached as white as Arctic snow. This may have happened as they froze Into the northern ice, which flows So very slowly easterly And finally reaches Greenland's sea. There it will melt, releasing all The flotsam carried, large and small. The ducks are now Atlantic borne, All looking pale and badly worn. But they're more valuable today. There's still thousands, by the way! I have a map that shows their course And know the code that's titled Morse. I'll find the eastern seaboard where Those ducks are sailing, unaware! I'm sending out this fervent plea That some of you will come with me! Oh such a well told story that was, and I just had to show you - we used to let thousands of rubber ducks loose on the Capilano River each year, a type of race, and the fastest duck won the owner of it some serious money. Enjoyed this story Betty Lou. Here is my story from the newspaper for you... http://www.nsnews.com/issues01/w081901/084101/news/084101nn2.html |

Mysteria: I really enjoyed reading the article you sent me and I'm sorry you won't be able to have your duck run this year. Sounds like loads of fun and for such a worthwhile cause. The treasure hunt sounds fun too. Let me know how that turns out will you? Thanks for reading! Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Betty, Well I have both eyes open today and the first thing I find is your delghtful little story. Wonderful and we need lighthearted stories such as this in our news. My operation is over and it was much less hard on me than I expected. Now it is just to get back to my everyday life. Love, Joyce |

A very amusing piece and I will keep watch in case any of them show up in Boston's Public Garden. They maybe related to the ducks from the book, Make Way for Ducklings!! Hugs, Marti Hear Blessings dropping their blossoms all around you. |

Marti: If you do find any of those wayward duckies, remember they are worth some money! If you find enough of them, you could take a nice trip somewhere! Or go on a shopping spree! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Richy: I had a lot of fun with this. The facts are true, according to the newspaper, but the idea of all those bleached, rubber duckies floating around for 11 years, just strikes me as hilarious. Can you imagine if some one was lost at sea and suddenly was surrounded with thousands of these, how he would feel? Thanks for sharing the laughter with me! Betty Lou Hebert |
