Anesthesia

The sudden descent into darkness,
The slow of awaking to pain.
Though I wish it away,
It is nearing the day
I must travel this path once again.

It's a place that no one can go with me.
It's a road I must travel alone.
I know the full score
I have been here before.
It's a dug up, much chewed on old bone.

Why should I feel such a horror?
Why this unreasoning quake?
As my sense I surrender
To hands less than tender,
I hear a voice call me awake.

yes joyce, sooooooo true and so scary too. i love this stanza

Thanks June for your comments. It is my seventh sinus operation. I am having it Wednesday and the absolute time that I dread is that head swimming moment I am going under the anesthetic. June

Joyce: I'm so sorry to hear you must undergo another sinus operation. I know how you fe, for it is the same with me, when I have to have an anesthetic. I always fight that helpless feeling when you lose consciousness. Please let everyone know how you do and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
