Mirror My Shadow

Mirror comes with two image,
One is happy; one is sad;
Just like shadow comes with two,
One is in light; one is in dark.

People said I am happy.
Yet they don't know everyday my time is divided.

Mirror tells me,
If I'm pretty, why my heart isn't.
If I'm smart, why my heart is full of questions.
Mirror tells me,
If I'm nice, why my heart has no shine.
If I'm nice, why my heart is selfish.

My shadow, my mirror yell me to stop.
I'm driving her nuts.
No, people around me is driving me nuts.
All I hear from them is expectation.
Worse, all my parents say is that I'm bad.
So am I that bad?

I carry with me two faces everyday.
Both of them are real.
When I am engaged, I'm happy.
When I am alone, my shadow beats me.

People say I'm harsh on me,
Yet I know I've let indulgence into my live.
No self worth maybe the reason,
But let's make no excuses,
I am but burden.

I always smile to my mirror,
Saying how beautiful I am,
Yet deep down I know I am not.

Yet deep down I am hurt.

this is very accurate about how we all feel and how the world and ourselves are never black or white, just varying shades of grey.

Eliza; We never see ourselves as others see us, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I don't think many of us achieve the expectations that we have for ourselves. We have to look to our inner selves and descide what is important to us and what isn't! Enjoyed this poem.
