DARK JOURNEY No turning back. The cage door's closed. Down we plummet, faster than my heart beat. Are we rising? It's an illusion. Downwards, close to hell. Cage unlocked we meet our mentor, urging men to watch their language. Under tunnels, deep dark places. Shining teeth in blackened faces. Tour has ended, back to daylight. On a sigh I breathe amen. Discarding lamp, boots and knee pads. Unique experience but I'll never go down that again. |

Maggie~ This was so real, I felt my claustrophobia sneaking up on me~ Now THAT's good writing~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

I thought you were a miner but you say you'll never go down again. I followed you down and I'll never go there again either. Good job. Joyce |

Thank you all. This happened a few years ago in one of the deepest pits in Yorkshire UK. Good thing you wern't there, we had to go down on our knees going under very shallow tunnels in boiler suite hard hat and big boot. Maggie |
