Catch of the Day I cast a line into the emerald sea Full laden with a most alluring bait Whichever tail spins round and comes to me And bites the hook, that is the catch of fate A creature of the sea, a fish of chance Who eyes a hanging morsel in the deep And swirls around in stimulated dance Propelling forth into misfortune’s leap This is the one to stew upon the fire The one to fill my daily appetite But if I were to live by my desire I would not choose the very first to bite I should have waited patiently and long Until the best and grandest came along Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 07-24-2001).] |

A perfect sonnet, Liz, you certainly do have an amazing way with words in all of your poems. You used a great metaphor to bring your message to life in this ![]() Melissa~ |
