Mother's Love I wish I'd written down the words to the songs I sang to my childen when small. I'd soothe all their fears and dry up their tears With phrases I can't now recall. I wish I'd had a chance to record them, To play for them now when they're grown; To remind them, if they have forgotten, Of the love that they always have known. Sometimes as your children grow older, You forget to express how you care. Though they seem to reject you, Don't show they respect you, Their need for your love is still there. Just pretend they are little and helpless, Like they were when you sang lullabies. Use the words you used then Though they're women and men. Mother's love is not measured child-size. Is this ever a timely read for me! Just over a month ago my youngest son graduated. He is now on his own. I don't hear from him as often as i'd like so I hope you won't mind if I save this to the library so I cam go back and read as an encourgement and a reminder he still needs mom. I'm new here so I don't know how this library thing works, but I would love to be able to go back to this to read from time to time. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. Joyce, I understand your feelings so well. Don't forget dear friend that fathers cherish these memories too.. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

This is so nice and so true. Our kids are grown and gone, too. But, they still wish they could come home, once in a while, and be treated like they were when young. Goodin', Melton |

Joyce, this one really tugged on my heart strings! I'm entering that phase of motherhood known as, separation anxiety! It's so hard to let go, I'm trying but oh, how I can relate to this poem! I really loved it. |

Joyce, this is beautiful and hit me right in the heart and brought tears to my eyes. I just got off the phone with my 29 year old daughter and she is having some health issues and has asked if she can come home for us to take care of her while she recuperates. Always a mom no matter the age of our babies!!! Thank you for sharing this ... hugs, Marti Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. A.Einstein |

Oh good luck to you and your daughter Marti. I hope everything goes well. My house is in a turmoil too. My sister's house burned Saturday afternoon and she and everything that was salvaged is here with me until she finds another place to live. She is fine and it was mostly smoke and water damage. Her bedding is all lost but all in all she will be okay. Love, Joyce |
