Soup from Afar I saw a falling leave laying on my window. Uncle Winter must have played me a joke, Such a cold touch in early spring. I sat in the hot spring of man-made product, Slowly move my sponge across my skins. Now I am thinking, What about a cup of hot soup Warming up my veins? How about a fire camp beside rivers And counting stars of morning - with love ones or best friend? Lifting up my body from the bath, I dressed myself when I smelled Something so good it triggered my hunger- A soup prepared by a friend…afar. ©May 23, 2003 Eliza Simmons Eliza Simmons |
