This was written a couple of years ago on my best vacation ever. As far as I am concered West Virginia truly is almost heaven. In the peaceful Bluestone Valley, God tucked me in bed last night, He pulled the blue West Virginia skies about me Gathered pink clouds above the mountain tops, Then He sent the bluebirds to sit atop the flagpole To sing me a song of happiness, Within this peaceful valley, all was serene As I layed my head upon a feather pillow, Drifting off to dream; Then the hand of morning touched me, As sunbeams gently woke me At the begging of a brand new day Bidding me to rise at daybreak, To look out the cabin windows To discover the quiet hidden secrets, Of those early morning hours. Beyond the cabin window, The meadow was dressed in misty blue, The whole valley blanketed in a foggy mist As single file, a doe was leading her young ones, Across the valley to a choice spot That of crabapples growing by a stream, I watched those dear creatures As they ate their fill and until, One by one they walked back By the same path by which they came, Behind the trees and hills; Soon the sun had evaporated The valley's hazy mist, As the sun emerged completely in the sky, Then the bluebirds I had observed the night before, Took their faithful post, To sing a happy song once more. SongBird~ This is absolutely replete with beautiful imagery~ Thank you ... thank you for sharing. Today, in the back meadow of my home ... I saw two deer, a buck and a doe ... wouldn't you know I didn't have my camera on me ??? Darn the luck .... but, I'll be waiting when they return. *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
