Among the graves, the ravens walk. They mutter and they seem to talk. They fly in ragged disarray. Whenever someone comes their way. Then from the trees with beady eyes, They stare and utter raucous cries. Do they arrive with early light? Or do they wander here all night? The cemetery seems to be A special place for them and me. With flower-laden hands I bring, Sweet tributes from another spring. Published in "Poetic Voices of America" 1994 Betty Lou Hebert |
