"Live as you will have wished to have lived when you are dying."Christian Furchtegott Gellert Is there something about me Is there something repulsive Is there kindness, meanness Why do you not seem to like me I feel your disapproving glances I turn to look you in the face I can see there Derision, dislike, criticism What have I done to you I will not grovel, beg You do not face me openly You do not confront me No accusations No inquiries as to why I did this Or, why did I do that You face me sweetly With warmth and insincerity As though you will hide this Behind my back Giggling with others about what .. How would you feel If you were me And I were you? PS Time has passed (24 hours) I have felt the hurt I have felt the confusion Of why--why Finally, I've reached A conclusion I will be me I can only be me Whether you like me Is of little consequence I like you enough It is your problem To deal with your Dislikes, hatreds, jealousies I am here I am what my life has Made me I will receive you With love if you want it If you do not want it The sorrow should be yours Not mine A love rejected Leaves a hole in our lives. |

Barbara - oh how true. Also, what you give out, comes back to you tenfold. Very good piece of writing. Chris "Hope" is the thing with feathers- |

I truly appreciate each comment made. I haven't much confidence in showing my work publicly and do need the good and the bad. Do not be afraid to critque what you see, I will learn from it. Thank you all. B. |

Barbara: Sounds as if you are doing the wise and sensible thing here. We need to be accepted for who we are. Good poem and hope you are enjoying this site! Betty Lou Hebert |

Thanks to you all for taking the time to review my poem. All the comments were very insightful. I could use some criticism. You all are just too nice. Barb |
