THE POET Sitting high, Spotlighted, On center stage, The peasant bloused, Flounce sleeved poet, Verbally embraced His somewhat captive audience. An emotionally loud, Self taught ‘Thesaurus Literate’ He expounded words, That strung together, Made little or no sense. The polite audience Feigned understanding, Applauded enthusiastically, Patrons of the Art Fearing to show their ignorance. The question then is ‘Who is the bigger fool’ The poet or the audience? I am an enigma, even unto myself. |

I love this. I compare this preposterous situation to the Tale of the Emperor Who Wore No Clothes. Joyce |

I think I have been part of that audience at least a couple of times. To each his own I guess. I appreciate poetry that I can at least understand and relate to. I guess I am just a simple person, with a simple vocabulary. |

SPIRIT: Unfortunately, good manners sometimes requires enthusiasm, when what we really feel is boredom! Betty Lou |
