An old, majestic oak
Stands tall and all alone
With crooked and gnarled arms
It's cooling shade, and endearing charm

If it's stories could be told
Of Summer's warmth and Winter's cold
It would remind of how birds sing
To announce the coming of Spring

Of the softness of a catepillar's step
Upon it's leaves as it crept
The caress of a raindrop's touch
That tree could tell so very much

Of Summer fields of darkest green
Of dainty dewdrops glistening sheen
Of old man Winter's morning frost
The last of Autumn's leaves pay the cost

CHILI:  Enjoyed your poem.  Trees are lovely and interesting.  We have a huge maple that was badly damaged during an ice storm, several years ago and everyone told us we should just take it out.  We decided to give it a chance and it's almost as beautiful today as it was then.

I agree with Betty. Trees are silent and mysterious. Good topics to play with.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Dear CHILI, I sat down underneath your enchanting tree for awhile to admire the beauty you've painted. And I must say I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Many hugs

~An old, majestic oak~
Stands tall and all alone...

When I read those first two lines I was swept away to another time and another place.
When I was a mere baby at the tender age of 16 me and my first love rode his motorcycle to a secluded spot and all that was standing there in that field of green grass was a beautiful oak tree. That memory holds a special place in my heart, your words you brought it back to me. Magical read.
Hugs,
