Who do we have when there's no one there, cut off from any ties,no longer any care? There's a man down in the subway trying to sleep amidst the noise, and the crowds and all the filth, waiting for the time he dies. This coming Christmas will not bring all he once knew,no,not a thing. What happens when not even hope for him exists? Who was in his past,I wonder. Who stood by him to share the thunder in his life... 'til they moved on? Perhaps his loved one died. But what is worse, and not just I believe; to give your Heart, then be deceived, to find that you're not worth what you perceived, webs of belief you once had weaved... ...are dusted away when there's no one there. Geoffrey Sonnen Autumn,2000 Please remember the homeless in your prayers this Thanksgiving season... http://www.readio.com/business/about.html If a man has not discovered something he is willing to die for,his life is not worth living. |

Geoff: Such a sad picture and unfortunately it can be seen on many streets in larger cities. I am a frequent library user and since cold weather has arrived, I notice the library reading room is filled with homeless men. I'm always grateful to the librarians and the city, for letting them stay in where it's warm all day. I worry about where they go at night! Betty Lou Hebert |

StreetHeart~ 'Who was in his past,I wonder. Who stood by him to share the thunder in his life... 'til they moved on?' Such a poignant thought .... and many times, I've asked, to find that their stories of remember are filled with heartbreak and heartache~ Thank you for sharing this~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Heart hugs to you, for sharing this tender compassionate view. I really believe you should publish a book of poems and photos, 'Slices of Life', or maybe call it 'Thanksgiving Should Be Everyday' or something like that. for an excellent write from your heart. |

Ah yes I do agree that compassion makes us more sensitive and gives us special touches to our writing...... Well done, this piece beckons to my compassion within... Love Michelle If there cannot be equal in affection, then let the one with more be me - midnightblues™ |

Thanks for the reminder that we need to be thankful when we are blessed, but also to think of others that might not so fortunate. My heart also grieves for people that have no one or nothing they can call their own. |

I see someone brought this back at this most appropriate season. We should pray but we should also act. Joyce |

Man... ya'll are out to open the flood gates on me today :p Very, very wonderful poem. Not the subject (which is sad of course) but the way you layed it out there. Thank you for reminding all of us to count our blessings. |
