Silently I walked the 2 mile hike up the steep mountain trail wanting to prove I could do it, passing some that did the same. The young walked and talked as if it were a game. I could hardly talk, for the mountain stole my breath. When at last I made it to the top, I stood, moving nothing for as far as I could see, clouds, like huge white cotton balls floated lazily in the pale blue sky where thousands of trees hugged the mountains, appearing like burning candles as they flickered in the sun; a flush of orange and red. Now I know why I climbed the mountain trail. Not for proof of the deed, for I knew I could do it, but for a testimony of what I did not know. BloomingRose |

Blooming Rose: What a lovely poem and I can relate so well to it. I live where there are many mountains and the view from the top always exceeds my expectations. Betty Lou Hebert |
