Masquerade Ball I went to bed last night, in fall. The days have been bright and mellow. Awaking, I find that winter's Been a very busy fellow. Just yesterday, the ginkgo tree Was beautiful with leaves of green. Last night it had disrobed so fast It seems to me a bit obscene. The birds and I have waited for Some help from our good friend, Jack Frost To nip the grapes and turn them sweet. Now they are frozen and are lost. Tonight, when it is time to judge Best Halloween masquerader, The top prize can only go to Quick change artist, Mother Nature. Joyce Oct. 31, 2002 |

This is so neat,Joyce!Definitely a "keeper". I thought the ending was the best. How did your gingko tree come to such a quick demise? Strong winds there at home? The one thing I always observed and appreciated about them is how long they keep their foliage and their striking yellow appearance in Autumn. You'll have to apply a little superglue next time ! Thanks to both of you and my gingko tree didn't even have time to turn yellow. This was a sudden hard freeze and believe me I never saw anyting fall as fast as those leaves. One day covered and the next they rained down like a sudden hailstorm. Joyce |

Joyce: I enjoyed your poem The same thing has happened here. One day was autumn and the next winter had moved in, although we have no snow right here. All around us on slightly higher ground however. The poor plants and trees will suffer for it I'm afraid. Betty Lou Hebert |

she can get rather sneaky on occasion, especially in northern climes. I have put all of that behind me however. Florida is more graceful in the fall. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

JOyce~ Now this is an 'old friend' that I like VERY MUCH~ 'Just yesterday, the ginkgo tree Was beautiful with leaves of green. Last night it had disrobed so fast It seems to me a bit obscene.' LOL ... Delightful ... not the freeze ... but the sense of humor you so nakedly displayed~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Joyce~ I love this, my friend. Leave it to Marge to get to my favorite lines before I do. LOL That's ok, though, because I love the WHOLE thing. Beautifully penned. Hugs, ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, |
