Why not join us the elite Learn to lie and spin and cheat What we do is really neat We hoodwink all the Joes You could be just as we And look down on the mob with glee We the wise in sanity All the rest are sheep Come and live up here on high Look at the specious fools and sigh Smiling as the rebels die We need to keep the peace It is a jolly happy place to be We're the only ones who're free Politicians jump to our decree Good shepherds for our sheep Come up with us, you'll not regret it If you've a conscience you'll soon forget it The Power will heal you if you let it Only losers cry Always remember it is God's will That the strong should guide the gullible shill And teach the 'Complex' they must kill To keep our nation 'free' Don't be fooled by our blank stares There's money galore for he who dares And luxury to calm those worrisome cares Leave your conscience at the door For we have a duty that must be done To save the world from freedom Any threat to trade will be met by a gun This world is OUR DOMINION |

Wow!I hear you.The thing is,what do you do to change anything? My foster mother is very much an activist. She's been arrested several times for her "freedom of speech".She is a dynamo and has such conviction and knowledge about what really goes on,you know, the things many do NOT know about or deny.Good chance you might have even heard of her.Anyway,it seems to me that it is next to impossible to set things as they should be.Don't mean to sound negative or fatalistic.I still have hope.I am even still an Idealist even through my negative experiences with activism and trying to make a difference. But all evidence points to "Money is Power".People "listen" to the Power that has money, the money they hope their "kissing" technique wins and/or affects in some way.We are like ants.Seems no matter how many "ants" we are,we still in the end are so easily trampled by the "Bear" of Government and the greedy rich.Never seems to be an end to it.I can only hope that people like you who care and keep striving to make a difference, one's whose "Passion" is thoroughly mixed with Compassion (not-to-mention diligence),will actually turn the tide,to make things right.I suppose,if there enough of us "ants",a truly dedicated horde, the "Bear" could be subdued, better yet, kept in check or controlled. But,again,it takes me back to my question of "How?". Peace,Geoff P.S.I wrote something several years ago with an uncanny reference to the possibility of having the violence that we see in other parts of the world (Middle-east,etc.)start taking place within our supposed "safe haven".I was trying to find it to submit it on the anniversary of 9/11.I found it finally,a little late, but,I think I will submit it now anyway.Tell me what you think. |

Hi Geoff It's good to know you're there. And your foster mother. Would you read the following article? It's about a talk given by Noam Chomsky a few days ago called 'Power and Hope'. (Right on the very topics you mention.) There wasn't enough space in the hall for everyone who wanted to listen and they had to set up loudspeakers outside. http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2002-10-25/pols_feature10.html As Chomsky has said now is the best time for activism. He also says: "My own speculation is that the current empire will collapse, but as a consequence of its destruction of the world." Not all that happy a prospect then. But we can't let Bush rape what's left of the natural world for the sake of bucks and big business. We can't stand by as he pours money into arms and the Military Industrial Complex to save his economic neck. We can't say it's nothing to do with us as the culture is submerged in marketing PR tactics that make sleaze and curruption of value an everyday event... The list goes on and on. If Bush has a brain it's a business brain. But doing business has been shown often to be thoroughly corrupt. Should we be sacrificing EVERYTHING for the sake of ever more consumption. Do we really want to consume the world and vomit it back up? It's obvious how much consumption has taken place in the last 50 years. What about the next Five Thousand Million? That means a stinking concrete hole of a planet. If we're lucky there will be "Tree Museums" as Joni Mitchell sings. And "Bird", "Flower", "Wild Life" museums too. Personally I think the answer must lie with the individual practicising voluntary simplicity, refusing to consume, living a low-maintenance lifestyle, sharing tools, connecting to others and refusing to attempt the fruitless task of literally buying their way to happiness...
