Golden Dreams The aspens shiver in the breeze. First of all the other trees, To show their colors in the fall. Like ladies going to a ball, They don their gowns of glowing gold. Make ready for the days of cold. With winter's onset, one by one, The leaves, with days of glory done, Release their hold and drift away. All borne upon the wind, they stray Far from the tree that gave them birth, Before they come back down to earth. Beneath the snow, piled white and deep And dreaming golden dreams, they sleep!
