Waning moon like scimitar
     stabbing at the dark
Shards of light shining afar
     uplifting heavens ark

And night creeps by like dragons smoke
until the hour that it will stroke
the time for morning to awake
in darkness 'til the dawning break

Dying soon the eyeing eve
     watching Earth revolve
Spying 'til the stars must leave
     no mystery to solve

and night creeps by with raging ease
   escaping land and tempting seas
For Waning Moon still holds the keys
to tidal ebb and flowing breeze, after all...
the moon is not made up of cheese

Once again I find your poem written as if you were a part of it, that is an attractive quality. Write on!

Street Heart:  This is an effective way of writing and I like the subject matter. The last verse especially.

Extremely nice flow to this piece.  I've always felt the night comes on excatly when It wants and is perfectly content to fade into the dawn.  The moon, almost the over-seer, looking down on night owls (real and people like myself) Very peaceful time.

leafseranade...that is such a nice moniker.
Are you a gardener,by any chance?Sounds like you are a night person like myself.Thank you for your compliment on the flow of this. This is one of my pieces of work that I consider
in the "incantation" mode.No...I am definitely not a warlock, nor involved in the occult in any way,but I have always been facinated by hearing on TV or movies those
things that were written that are considered "spells", for they always had such a flow and a "visual" quality about them and very beautiful at times. Thanks again fellow Night Owl.

I like this. A slice of variety from a waning moon.
