The soft fragrant lace of your memories float around me
I’ve kept them locked in my heart where only I can see

~*~

They need to breathe and have a moment to dance
They glide around the room making the most of this chance

~*~

The ones of happiness and joy soar freely and light
The ones of sorrow and pain cling  to me so  tight

~*~

As they flutter here and there the tears escape me
They are locked away as well, this is their time to be free

~*~

A stray memory glides down looking for a soft place to land
The light in your eyes and the gentle touch of your hand

~*~

The wounded memories fight desperately to be loose and fly
With their misshapen wings I’m not sure why they even try

~*~

As I tuck each memory away again with gentle loving care
The saddest ones go in last because their freedom is so rare

~*~

I promise them they will have beautiful wings to fly with grace
As I wipe the tears from my eyes with the memories of lace

~*~

BDC,

Wonderful and so touching.  Brought a tear to MY eye.  You captured those emotions so well.  Great writing, my friend.

ButterfliesDC~
This is just so lovely.
Might even be what I think is one of
the best I've seen from your pen.
Really a joy to read and the presentation
is stunning.

I had to peek...and I am in awe!

Very lovely...moving...and sad...

I love it...

I love the time
and in between
the calm inside me
in the space
where I can breathe...

There you go again, just when we think we have seen your best you come up with something like this. Your talent knows no bounds my friend. This is just so beautiful!

Jamie* Thank you for reading......by the way those weren't "butterfly tears" only poetry tears...so they don't really count

This was exquisitely written!
Beautiful expression of your tender
emotions displayed. Wonderful imagery
as well. Excellent!

Take care.

You must have found my "secret place"
I thought there was a butterfly there dancing on the wind.

Way down in the corner of my heart
there is a secret place.
I go there every now & then
just to see your face.
and talk with you of days
gone by and things we have
shared. Those treasured things we held dear
and know that you are very near...nona.
