The Winds of Strife

Along  the beach walked two young lovers happily lost in song
a breeze born of the sea at their backs.
The salty wind pushed them joyfully, effortlessly along,
leaving behind their little beach shack.
The miles fell away quickly from under their feet,
life was so joyous, easy and sweet.
Blissful and ignorant of the winds of change,
the thought of a struggle to them would be so strange.
So never knowing the resistance of the wind ,
being drifters of the heart,
it didn't take very long at all, for the wind to blow them apart.

"Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely".

It started out so beautifully, but ended so sadly. You told this tale well, Prometheus.

Gosh I love your poetry!!!!
these last 3 lines just blew me away!!

So never knowing the resistance of the wind ,
being drifters of the heart,
it didn't take very long at all, for the wind to blow them apart.

WOW !! Loved it all

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,
my body goes on, my spirit has died,
and I though alive, feel dead inside.

Prometheus,

Those winds can come up out of nowhere and blow you into tomorrow berfore you know it.  This was sad, yet beautiful.  I have to admit I am captivated by your writing.  So happy you have joined our family here.  Great writing!

~Prometheus,...this is wonderfully written.
"For the wind to blow them apart",....oh how this can happen out of nowhere and brings much pain.  Thank you for sharing this.  Enjoyed reading. Take care. *Peace.

Food for thought here.  It is amazing how quickly our lives can change.  Very well penned.

Jamie, I had to come back and read this sad but beautiful piece. Excellent!

winds of change ... winds of strife ...
carry me back to the love of my life,
return me to where I left my heart,
this love shall never again part

*sigh* ...
so many sad love poems tonight...
I need a happy ending *smile*

Janet, Butterfly;

Having read you both, I give thanks to a pair of gifted poets.
And Janet, at least this one came from observation rather than having to live it myself.
To butterfly,,,I have one more that I may post one day that I think has a chance to reach those butterfly tears!thanks again..jamie

The winds have been blowing and the eyes have not seen. What a stark contrast when one had been rudely awakened from a sweet song. Such sadness and sorrow. Hugss <**>

I'm comparing this poem to the life of a married couple who look upon others with an arrogant bliss. For their situation is (and will be)exactly all that you have said. Have you been watching them??

Very thought-provoking Prometheus ... always thinking we have it all, until it blows away without a moment's notice ... very well written!

Prometheus,

Gotta' be honest with you and say that I read this earlier today and either didn't ponder on it long enough or misunderstood it completely ... Came back this evening to reread and now see the light (duh!!!) ... Wonderfully written ... Fav line ...

Blissful and ignorant of the winds of change,
the thought of a struggle to them would be so strange.

Thanks.
