I Am the Sun.

Once,

I
was
known
as
Ra,
glorified, deified
and ratified in excellence.

I was
'the creator of all
that is and is not yet…
the father of fathers and the mother
of mothers.'

I was the
'God of the living
and my brother Osiris
the God of the Dead.'

I do many things.

Nay,
do not worship me
as the son worshipers did,
and the sun-worshipers of today
do.

I do many things.

I have been
duly worshiped
by the scene of
the falcon,
and do not need more
sacrifices made.

I do many things.

Perhaps I led you to
monotheism.

I give life;
see the nurturing
of your greenery
and the warmth
on your face.

I take life;
see death
quiet
even in my
brightness.

You behold my
arising
joyfully.

I bring to you the
start of many things,

and end them
at eventide.

I am sought
in solitude
and the close
of day.

Even then
I am not
gone

but

live on

in the shimmer of
earth's moon.

I have
a life
too.

I can span only
so much
time.

While I am here
I will
give you what
I can.

For righteous
or
adverse.

I am the Sun.

I am.

Can you live
without
me?

Oh Karilea,
This is music to my soul.
I love the way you write, you
have such grace here. I hope that some-
day, my flights of fancy will learn
to soar with the eagles, as you do.....

              Beautiful work here........

WOW! This was absolutely incredible Sunshine! Something about this verse, it's imagery, it's flow ... has just struck me right out of left field. You followed your theme throughout so beautifully (made me run to my encyclopedia a few times too   )

This simply "must" become your signature poem! Really ... I just loved this Sunshine!!!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Sunny ... you're going to give Balladeer a run for his money with poems like this.
Incredible

Kit, Kit, come back onto the playing field..."left field"!!! you left me chuckling and happy...what kind comments...

Rex, you flatter me...I'll never be a Balladeer, but he certainly inspires us all on to greater things...as do YOU...

thank you both so much!

Marge, you snuck in on me there...thank you for reading...I always know if I can catch your glance, then perhaps it is a really good piece...

and Kit, I never thought of a "signature poem..." you think this is the one, then?

Thanks!

Sunshine writes about the sun. Very applicable I would say.
I found these to be tremendous words of comfort and very upbuilding. The entire work made me feel the warmth.
