My ship set sail on the ocean blue It was supposed to take me to you I can still feel the warm summer breeze No one knew that later we'd freeze Things started out carefree and fun That day I basked under the sun I saw a man of mystery and intrigue Thought to myself he's not in my league Something kept drawing me to his face My heartbeat quickened just a trace Eyes sparkled blue under hair of gold I was surprised he could be so bold In a moment he was standing in front of me Then a kiss he gave for all to see He took the breath from my throat Think I will stay on this boat We got to the port where you would wait Unaware of the hand of fate By then I belonged to another He is so much more than just my lover Sorry to leave you in this way Standing on the beach near the bay I hope these words comfort your tears And that the tide washes away your fears Friends are friend forever if the Lord's the Lord of them and a friend will not say never cause the welcome will not end. --Michael W. Things started out carefree and fun That day I basked under the sun I saw a man of mystery and intrigue Thought to myself he's not in my league Something kept drawing me to his face My heartbeat quickened just a trace Eyes sparkled blue under hair of gold I was surprised he could be so bold Sometimes fate goes play a hand and some people were not meant to be together. I am gald that you found your perfect partner. really enjoyed this poem. ------------------------ "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time". Baltimore Grotto "To be nobody-but-yourself-in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." E.E Cummings. manic street preachers "Culture Alienation Borebom and Despair" "I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing" -faster MSP "And you see, I kind of shiver to conformity Did you see, the way I cower to authority, you see And my life, it's a series of compromises anyway It's a sham, and I'm conditioned to accept it all, you see" six by Paul Draper. ----- |

Oh OUCH....this was so heartfelt yet painful! I tell you, I learned a long time ago to not tempt the hand of fate, or question her....she is far wiser than any of us will EVER be. What will be will be. And you're only kidding yourself if you think you can alter your fate. I think our paths are already laid out for us, all we have to do is walk, and stay out of the weeds! (chiggers you know!) |

Brian, Thank you, but it is only a poem. Sort of a story I guess. Not true at all. Was just thinking about how fate has already chosen our path and we cannot alter that. Poet Femme, Thanks. I know that fate is wiser than I and already knows how things will go. I agree with you 100% on fate having it all laid out already. This just kind of came to me so I decided to write about it. I enjoyed your poem whether it be fact or fiction. Fate has written our stories. As in your poem there held the fate of happiness for you and the fate of saddness for the other. Nicely done |

Kitkat....Thank you!! Yes, fate has already written those stories and regardless of what we say or do things will always work out as they should. Well said!! Spit Fire....Thank you very much my friend!! I try to be creative. It just kind of came to me the other day. I love your writing also. Take care. Lovely poem in the writing....A bit painful for the one left standing....I suppose because I have been left standing on that port waiting for a woman like this. And I hate to have an opposed view...but I would really hate to think that I have no control on what I become or where I go....leaving all to fate. I think it a sad thing to say we have no real choice to decide. I myself don't live by way of fate.... If I did I think I would simply do nothing....and let fate be what ever it would be in my life. But I can tell you I would be a bum....but I choose not to do that.....and I continue to work to be what I desire...not what is left for me in fate. We all have different views and that is what makes us all different....I don't know if anyone really knows the real answer......And does it really matter? Just live for today because we are never promised a tomorrow. Enjoyed the poem It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. |

Hi Lone Wolf, You know I love everything you write, however, I must agree with First_Knight on this issue. I do believe in fate to a certain extent, but fate can only take you so far. We must live each day for what it is. Not that I am a very religious man, but even the Bible tells us that we aren't promised a tomorrow. I don't want to start a phylisophical debate here just stating my point of view Anyway, I did enjoy this poem, very much so. And I would love to write another with you very soon All my love, Jeffrey I lie awake in a world filled with dreams, but dreams can be so real when you don't know you're asleep |

Written beautifully and such a twist at the end! But oh I'd hate to be that poor fellow left standing near the bay Wonderful poem Lone Wolf! Best wishes, /Kit [This message has been edited by Kit McCallum (edited 06-13-2000).] |

Hi LW Good one I loved the twist...a poor man left stranded...It will be harsh in real life..This makes love a game of hide and seek.Funny yet interesting game. I pray there aren't many like this.... Sincerely A_L |

First_Night....Thanks for the read and comment. We do have a choice, but that is what determines fate. The choices set things in motion. I guess I felt that if she were meant to be with the man on the port, then she would not have fell for the one on the ship. I hope that makes sense. Just an idea I had...nothing behind it really. Yes, you really should live each day to the fullest. Perhaps you are confusing fate with destiny. Fate is what determines your destiny. Jeffrey....Thank you for the comment. No, no debates necessary. Inteeresting to read everyone's take on this. Glad you enjoyed it. I would love to write another with you as well!! Kit....Thanks. Just thought it would be a different twist for a man to be left standing there instead of a woman. Love that shocked look!! LOL... A_L....not a true story...just something I wrote. Kind of came to me. I hope there are not many like that either. Nate....Thank you....that was the point. The sad part just kind of happened.
