NO GOD

There is something deep inside,
I have no god he doesn’t provide,
there is no love or any grace,
no god for me to love or hate,
I don’t say things in a prayer,
I have family instead who care,
if the sky is misty or grey,
if anything bad happens I find a way,
if things are hard and I have to struggle,
god isn’t there for me to cuddle,
he isn’t there he isn’t right,
he’s not strong or full of might,
his faith might be good and kind,
but through me it hasn’t shined,
all these thoughts might just change,
but probably at an older age,
there is a door of faith for me,
god just has not unlocked it with his key,
his faith might be true and right,
but I have turned it out just like a light.

Debbie please forgive me for not understanding but... What makes you feel so strongly about God that you would write a poem about Him if you don't believe in Him?
Or is it that you do believe in Him but that He's not there for you?

Thanks
Douglas

Oh my, this one hurt my heart.  There is a God and He is always there for any who will but come to him.  He wants to be your strength and your song.  It is not enough to think that you may believe when you are older for we have no promise of tomorrow.

Deb,
I know how you feel.....

For me, always thinking there was something/ or someone out there who needed me or believed in me would get me through my dark moments. I've been where you are,
God is real - look around you!

I sought my soul, but I could not see
I sought my God, but God eluded me
So I sought my brother, and I found all three

Debbie.......

I think we all wonder about God....
some of us are able to take it on blind faith, so to speak, because we can't see him.
Some of us are more doubtful, but take it from one who IS older......if we search for him, we'll find him waiting there. He may not be what we expect, so we just have to keep our minds open.......and he'll come to you in a form your heart can accept. To me, he shows up in friendship.....in people like the ones on this site............

I felt your words deeply, because they were so honest, and human...........

Paint your words upon the eager waiting canvas of my heart.....~Sunny1~

When they Say God works in mysterious
ways, they (whoever they are) have found
a way to answer your unanswerable questions.

It is very hard to believe that there is a
God when children are starving and dying.
And, very hard to believe in a God when
your loved ones die way too soon. When
people around you are making a great living
and having a decent life and you wonder
WHY ME GOD ------why is my pathway so darn
hard?

If there is a God - he does work strangely.
If there is not a God then - many people
find solace in believing there is one.

Either way, to me, I am very spiritual
and do believe in souls and higher powers.
To follow a path of God and join a church
is a proven way to get routine in your life
and live a better life.  Whether there is
a God or not is something that in your search
you can find out for yourself.

Many people find God way late in life,
some had him and rejected the philosophy.
Some have had this supreme being shoved
down their throats, until they had enough.

Life is to be enjoyed - finding spirituality
is very comforting.  Knowing you are not
alone ---is comforting  --- I believe
that we are on earth and we are being
tested and some of us just have harder tests
then others.

Maybe some people are not strong enough
to have harsh reality tests and would snap
had they had to lead your life.

They say (whoever they are) that God
does not give people more than they can
handle)  but I do not believe this, for there
would not be suicides if that were the case.

The important thing here, Debbie, is no
matter what you end up believing or disbelieving -- if you have seeked and have
not found ------and have had an open mind,
then do not feel guilty for not believing
in God ------If you seek and you find, -
then enjoy.

My son found God and has become a better
person for it.  For in most belief systems
you are going to find some truly good people
who are trying to do their best in life.

By being around these kind of people, your
life can only improve.  Choosing to find
God, is the easiest path there is in the
United States ---- You don't have to question, you don't have to make waves, or
feel LEFT OUT  -- going to church and
belonging is one way to feel accepted and
to be part of something, that is usually
good.

If there is a God, you can bet your last
dollar ----you will find him.

I, like you, had searched high and low
for this GOD and questioned his vindictiveness and jealousies and have
read countless things on different religions
and belief systems.

I had a horribly abused childhood, and,
frankly, there was no God to protect me,
for if there were, HE CERTAINLY did show
it mysteriously.  I suppose I can say.
Thanks GOD I survived that childhood. And,
thanks for making me stronger for the experience.  Who knows maybe he has great plans for me someday with that (streetwise) common sense I earned and inner strength.

JUST remember this - in every civilization
that we have ever discovered, mankind has
had something to worship.  We need to worship
and give thanks - it is somewhere in our
very souls to be thankful for the gift of
life itself.

And, it is that you are questioning and
fighting.  Some worship the biblical God
others are wiccans some are Buddah some
are praising allah - it doesn't matter,
spiritual existence is out there.

To fight over what a person believes in
is the most terrible thing that has happened
to mankind in itself.  The seething hatred
of MY WAY IS THE ONLY WAY -----as wars
still continue on.

Your answer is inside yourself. It is very
nice to take problems that can't be solved
and throw them over your shoulder and say
GOD (Higher Power) please take care of this
for me, for I do not have the strength.

It is nice to say NO TO DRUGS and on your
weak days SAY God I need your help ----Please
I am doing the best I can.

You will be surprised as to how you get your
answers.

Let the spiritual world guide you.  Feel
the wind, caress the grass - hug a tree -
tune into nature itself. Such love and beauty
awaits you and it will bring you peace.

What helped me in my path was the day
I realized that spirituality (belief)and religion were two different things entirely.

Religion is the order, the rules, the
dictates and confinement on how to believe.

Belief is exactly that.  No rules, no
regulations -- just the pure joy of reaching
out and belonging to something very special.

And, children that had hard lives find it
very hard to "belong" and feel "partof"
as they do feel singled out and "different"

But, Debbie, you belong -- Once you realize
you belong here on earth and you are special
and it is your special uniqueness that is
the essence of you and that almost all
kids, no matter how they were raised.
Yes, even the jocks and the cheerleaders
felt different, too.  And, it is because
they are different, just like you and me.

Great Poem

Well, Debbie - you put a broomhandle into a hornet nest with this one! - lol.

I've learned that Faith is a journey, not a destination.  It sounds like your journey has been very "interesting."  I like the flow of your verses; they carry your theme consistently from point to point.  The rhythm stays on track, too, which makes for an easier read.  Good job on putting your thoughts forward.

Judging from your use of numbers instead of words, I'm guessing you are relatively younger than many of us, so don't get hung up on the responses being judgemental.  Many of us have been where you are in our own lives, and we have moved through that period into other phases of our life.

Just one personal request?  Please slow down and use real words for words - I know its convenient to type "4" for "for", but there is no need to hurry through your responses, and it will improve the readability of your written thoughts.  This is STRICTLY a request, and is given with the warmest of regards for somebody who has so much to offer this poetry site.  I can't wait to read your next poem (even if you DO use those rascally numbers :0 )

I think you did a magnificant job with this one...and I can understand where you are coming from for I have been there too....I still dont beleive in God and thats not a bad thing. That is a choice i have chosen and obviously you will choose your way of life...The good thing about life is that we can make our own choices and no-one can change that..And everyone has an opinion..which respectfully is a right...
I respect your opinion greatly and I think you have alot of courage and wisdon for even
writting this poem...thumbs up bigtime
