Clad in emerald scales
Glistening plate mail
Mind hidden behind veils
He treads worn trails

His heart consumed by fires
Inspired by long gone sires
This soul easily tires
Dragon will not learn the lyre

Only one soul has kept away pain
Freeing his heart and making sane
Over years a mortal soul wanes
And now dragon lives on in vain

Last of his race,
He must keep face
Despite pain and disgrace
A soul of fragile lace

His fire now low, burns
Despite the lesson he learns
His being slowly turns
A storm slowly churns

Golden angel descends
“It’s nothing” he pretends
Their subtle light blends
Mortal soul portends

Dragon’s husk decays
It’s the end of his days
Mourn not for dragon ways
He flies on golden rays

Just to set the record strait.  There is still one of my kind left.  Aside from that the poem is done very well.  I like it lots.

Awesome poem NINJA!  I love dragons, and you put a very wonderful tale about them into a neat poem!  *claps loudly*  You really should write more poetry!

Wow! Abe, I'm really impressed! You did a great job with this, I even got a little teary eyed when the dragon saw that Angel..sad! But very good!! Why not submit to the book with this one? Just edit it!

Wonderful work my dear!  I especially love the part where the dragon sees the angel. Beautiful work hon, keep on writing poetry!

And now with the poetry, eh Abe? Not a bad route if this is the direction you're heding! Fantasy poetry is rare indeed and I see you've not lost your magnificent penchant for alluring imagery!
Bravo mi compadre!

Wow, great poem, I really enjoyed reading it, It had a mystifying fantasy feel, that can usually only be found in a Novel .
Thanks, You done well on this one .

This is an awesome poem, Abe.  And you say you're bad at this.  I'm horrible at rhyming poems.  *gags*  This was very good.  I love dragons.
