on the roof again

*i live in this little town called Las Vegas. i don't know if you've heard of it. anyway, i am moving. soon. this is my letter to myself that we move. we change. and this my goodbye not only to all the people i have met, known, and grown with, but also to the city. because it was there the whole time too.*

leaving las vegas

like the Cherry with the Eagle Eye said,
Tonight is the Night you want to Save.
after Tonight, i'll see you no more.
only the memories we have made.

the lonely nights in my backyard
swimming beneath the stars.
play Basketball in the driveway
to the music from thecar.

the warm embraces on Friday nights.
the ones on Saturdays too.
where i'm going may be better or worse,
but there's no replacing you.

drunken walks in the middle of streets
until the day would break.
we'd wake up in the evening
and everything would ache.

i'll miss the clubs and parties;
i'll miss the shimmering lights;
i'll miss the casinos, but not the tourists;
i'll miss the glimmer behind your eyes.

cruise the mall in the afternoons
and dance the nights away.
school and jobs while the sun was up.
all that evaporates today.

the summer heat and desert snow.
the video poker at grocery stores.
i always said i hated this town,
but now i don't want to close this door.

all the relationships fizzled,
but better friends could never be found.
this place is where i chose to grow up!
to this place i'm forever bound

so as you step you step in the car and turn the key
and speed off toward more destiny,
see in the mirrors all the lives you've touched;
take with you just the memory.< !signature-->

We all got somethin' we need to atone for.

Ethan - baby! On behalf of all of Las Vegas, allow me just to say thank you.  Your time here has meant so much to so many of us and in your time you have touched many lives - especially my own. So, on behalf of everyone in Las Vegas that loves you, thank you for this beautiful farewell.  We applaud you; embrace you; thank you.  I love you with all of my heart and will miss you more than I even realize yet!  Beautiful work as always!  Forever your friend, forever your Sandy - Jill

Goodbye Las Vegas. Well, time to start a new set of dreams and work on making them come true. Drunken walks in the middle of the streets, eh. You should be glad you lived through that so you can move on. Was'nt that a party. Have a good move. Good poem of recollections.
